North East West Kerry Development

 

The ‘Women Active in Society’ Training Programme aims to increase awareness and fuller participation of women in society in three key areas: Farming, Local Producing and Business. 

This programme is brought to you by NEWKD and part funded by the EU under the Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020.

The objectives of this project are:

Women in Farming – Women’s Networks and Participation in Local and Regional Decision Making

    1. Increased networking and sharing of learning and best practice between women farmers in the north, east and west Kerry area and Wielka Polska (Greater Poland).
    2. Increased representation and participation by women farmers in local decision making bodies, especially those influencing agricultural policy.

Women in Local Producing – Developing and Delivering a Collective Marketing Strategy

    1. Increased networking and sharing of learning and best practice in marketing their produce between women local producers in the north, east and west Kerry area and Wielka Polska (Greater Poland).
    2. Increased independence and sustainability of women local producers through collective marketing initiatives and a shared e-commerce website.

Women Entrepreneurs – Increasing Engagement and Participation in the Business Community

    1. Showcase the strength of women’s engagement and participation in Business in the north, east and west Kerry area and Wielka Polska (Greater Poland).
    2. Increased networking and sharing of learning and best practice in business between women in business in the north, east and west Kerry area and Wielka Polska (Greater Poland).
To Participate

WHAT: 

This programme is organised by NEWKD and funded by the LEADER Rural Development Programme 2014-2020. You will have the opportunity to meet, share and learn from your peers (in Kerry and Poland) under the leadership of our content experts who will support you on a journey of growth for both you and your business.

Women Active In Society 2

We will launch the programme with a session of learning and networking to highlight how you can take a more active role in society within your area of interest. From this point, we will invite you to express interest in participating in the Transnational Programme which involves Project Group Meetings and Hosting your Polish Peer Group as well as traveling to Poland to see their businesses in action and to learn from their experiences. The Project Group Meetings will focus on generating and implementing a plan to meet the above stated objectives. 

Additionally, a documentary will be created as an outcome of the overall project with filming to take place at most events, interviews and more. A report will also be created to highlight the project achievements against objectives in coordination with the documentary film. 

WHEN: 

      • August – Half Day Training Seminar – Launch of Programme, Learning & Networking
      • September – Half Day Project Group Meetings with your cohort of Farmers, Producers or fellow Entrepreneurs
      • September / October Travel: 
        • Lean In and Host our guests from Poland as they come to learn from our experts who will provide 3 half day training sessions and your own experiences with local site visits and more.
        • Participate in a 5 day Field Trip to Poland to learn from their experiences and experts 
        • (All travel pending government announcements in relation to COVID-19) 
      • November – Half Day Project Group Meetings with your cohort of Farmers, Producers or fellow Entrepreneurs
      • December – Virtual Cuppa & Catch Up Networking Session
      • January – Learning Summary & Planning Session
      • March – Virtual Cuppa & Catch Up Networking Session
      • April – Showcase Event for unveiling of all plans, shared successes and celebration of the journey

HOW: 

All sessions will be full of interaction if virtual or face to face. These will be highly collaborative events with a lot of group exercises and discussion.

A key component to the programme is the creation of a small, trusted group of like-minded women within each cohort and across sectors for collaboration. You can learn from each other throughout the programme and after completion. This group of women will continue to sustain you as you grow your businesses across Kerry.
