Joanne Powell

Joanne is a learning and development professional with extensive experience in education, training and assessment. She is also a certified Leadership Facilitator and Executive Coach, specialising in working with senior managers within the higher education sector.

As an Entrepreneur

Joanne manages the day-to-day operations of the Entrepreneurs Academy sister business: QED (Quality Education Development).  QED provides advisory services to the international higher education community, including:

    • Leadership support and training – with a focus and emphasis on optimising performance;
    • Executive Coaching – for those in management and leadership positions within higher education;
    • Strategy and Continuous Improvement – tackling strategic challenges and processes around key topics such as Mission, Internationalisation, Faculty Profiles, CSR etc;
      • This includes specialist expertise in supporting Business Schools to achieve premier international business school accreditation (as provided by AACSB, EFMD and AMBA)

Joanne joined the EA in 2015.  She contributes as a Leadership Facilitator and qualified DISC Consultant. Her leadership philosophy is centred on a core belief that authentic leadership comes from within. She brings that philosophy to both QED and the Entrepreneurs Academy, with a focus on deepening awareness of individuals’ core characteristics and values to raise overall effectiveness and impact.

Associations

Education is Joanne’s passion. Following several years working in second level and vocational training, she qualified as a chartered accountant and subsequently worked in public practice before returning to an education role. In 2006, she joined Chartered Accountants Ireland, initially as its Syllabus Development Manager and subsequently as Head of Assessment and Syllabus. During that period, she worked extensively with senior accountants and academics to develop and review syllabi and assessment strategy and processes for trainee chartered accountants.

Joanne is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, an alumnus of Trinity College Dublin and a certified member of the John Maxwell Team.

Joanne is also certified as a DISC Consultant (DISC Personality Profiling), Executive Coach and a Leadership Facilitator.
